Partisipasi Mahasiswa STOK Bina Guna Medan dalam PON di Sumut 2024: Sebuah Inisiatif Pengabdian Masyarakat

Objectives: To analyze the implementation and impact of STOK Bina Guna Medan student participation in supporting the implementation of the 21st National Games (PON) in North Sumatra in 2024 as a form of community service in the field of sports.
Methods: This study used a qualitative descriptive approach with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and activity documentation. The study subjects included 45 students from the Physical Education, Health, and Recreation (PJKR) and Sports Science (IKOR) study programs who volunteered in various sports at the 2024 North Sumatra PON in September 2024.
Results: STOK Bina Guna Medan students participated in 12 sports as assistant coaches, field coordinators, and athlete assistants. This community service resulted in a 78% increase in student practical competence, an 85% increase in PON committee satisfaction, and the establishment of partnerships with eight regional sports organizations. Students contributed to the management of 28 competitions, serving over 1,200 athletes from various provinces.
Conclusion: The participation of STOK Bina Guna Medan students in the 2024 North Sumatra National Games (PON) has had a positive impact on both student competency development and support for the organization of national sporting events. This community service model can be replicated for similar events in the future.
